Arke Vitium: Marmo Arredo’s new technology

Experiment, experiment and experiment again. The evolution of Scapin Group has always been driven by this consistent commitment to innovation, constantly pushing the boundaries of surface design. Through its three brands – Marmo Arredo, Quartzforms® and Eulithe® – the Group has redefined the role of stone in architecture and interior design, developing new aesthetics, enhanced functionality and innovative material expressions capable of combining versatility, beauty, durability and sustainability. The origins of this journey date back to the 1980s, when a visionary idea transformed the use of stone within the home. The result was a new generation of products, made possible by innovative manufacturing processes and precision craftsmanship, characterised by previously unseen materials and finishes.

A further breakthrough came when the company recognised the potential of mineral surfaces for creating high-performance solutions for kitchens, bathrooms, walls and floors. Since then, the pursuit of innovative technologies and new forms of beauty has guided every development across the Group’s brands. It is within this ongoing journey that Arke Vitium, Marmo Arredo’s latest innovation, was unveiled during Milan Design Week.

Arke Vitium perfectly embodies the Group’s philosophy and the complementary strengths of its companies. It is an advanced technology capable of opening entirely new expressive possibilities for contemporary design, producing an exceptionally realistic textured effect made even more convincing by the continuity of the pattern across the edges of the surface.

Arke Vitium is the result of the combined expertise of several specialised companies. Quartzforms® developed the mineral surface specifically designed for this application; Marmo Arredo contributed its expertise in stone processing and bespoke solutions; while Veneto Technology engineered the advanced texturing system.

The process begins with a Quartzforms® slab developed specifically for this application. The slab is cut and machined according to the desired design -whether for a kitchen worktop, table or bespoke furnishing element – and then placed inside a specially designed machine where the texturing process takes place.

Here, the characteristic veining and colour variations of natural stone are reproduced with extraordinary precision and extended seamlessly across the edges, creating a monolithic appearance in which the decorative pattern flows continues throughout the volumes.

“With Arke Vitium we introduce what we define as the fifth dimension of material,” says Marco Scapin, Art Director of Marmo Arredo. “We are no longer working solely on the surface, but across all five visible sides of the slab, creating a visual and material continuity never before achieved in the field of mineral surfaces.” Through this concept, Arke Vitium transforms texture into a language open to experimentation and technology into a creative design tool. The new Marmo Arredo solution is already finding practical applications within the contract sector and through collaborations with leading kitchen manufacturers, confirming the extraordinary versatility of the technology. From kitchen countertops and tables to cabinet doors, recessed worktops and complex three-dimensional elements, Arke Vitium expands the expressive potential of mineral surfaces while continuing the company’s pursuit of solutions that move beyond the ordinary.
