Evolving walls

Lualdi’s Framework collection transforms panelling into a modular infrastructure for organising and enhancing the space

From a single design element, a multitude of configurations emerge to bring dynamism, functionality and an elegant aesthetic to the space. It is from this premise that Framework was born, the new system developed by Lualdi in collaboration with Piero Lissoni. Framework organises the wall as a modular infrastructure: panelling, through a new frame technology, evolves to integrate opening, storage and lighting systems, alongside various types of openings, hinged doors and pivots. Customisation is therefore maximised, both in terms of composition and finishes and materials – combining wood, glass and aluminium to create different visual and tactile effects.

The first major showcase of the new system’s expressive potential is the Lualdi showroom in Foro Buonaparte, Milan, where Framework takes centre stage. In the new layout of the exhibition space, panelling in bleached oak and fossil black oak accommodates niches, illuminated shelves and integrated opening systems; pivot, hinged and sliding doors are incorporated into the surfaces, almost disappearing into them. The door ceases to be a standalone element and becomes part of a broader architectural whole, in a state of constant evolution.
