Transparency creates atmosphere

They bring light, or let themselves be crossed by it, creating reflections and smoked effects: decorative accessories bring out the qualities of glass, a sustainable material par excellence

The atmosphere inside a space is often produced by light, its reflections, or the effects it generates on the surfaces of objects. If beams of light pass through glass, the effects can be truly magical, creating shadows, shadings and transparencies of remarkable impact

Foscarini brings evolution to its bestseller Caboche, thanks to Caboche Plus, adding even more transparency, luminosity and lightness. The new spheres, redesigned with a larger section at the base to boost brightness, are now mounted on new zig-zag brackets designed to avoid screening the light, and to vanish from view once the spheres have been inserted. They seem to float in the void, triggering a very evocative effect of total transparency.

Designed by Studio VI+M for Purho, Normanna, a tribute to Sicily (the designers’ homeland), is composed of a delicate sphere of Murano glass that acts as a diffuser. Normanna rests on a structure in brushed brass, enhanced by tripolino fringe with a vaguely retro look.

With its clean, minimalist design, the Lari lamp by Karakter, created by Angelo Mangiarotti, is composed of a single piece of blown glass held by the base, which also contains the electrical system. On a small scale, the table lamp suggests certain previous architectural elements by Angelo Mangiarotti.

Mirror or lamp? Kathleen, designed by Davide Oppizzi for Fiam Italia, is both those things, enabling the light to play with the reflecting surface, but also with the glass frame. The piece is a floor or wall lamp with a border in cast glass, back-painted with the transparent colors Fumo, Rosa Antico or Ambra. The floor version has a metal structure with a foot in solid wood.

Three-dimensional texture brings glass to life in the Yida collection by Kave Home, composed of a plate, a dessert dish, a large glass, small glass and carafe, made in pink fume painted glass. The vintage styling features simple, sinuous lines.

The Collect line by &Tradition continues to grow with furnishing complements and objects for the home, like the crafted glass vases that play with the transparent material to create a ripple effect, similar to liquid. Each piece has a different color: the small SC66 Shadow; the medium SC67 Forest and the large SC68 Powder.

The Splash vase by Hay is made by hand, using a special glassblowing technique that involves multiple layers of colored glass. Available in different forms and sizes, the vase can be used for flowers or as a decorative object.

Menu, Échasse

For Échasse by Menu the designer Theresa Rand plays with the French word ‘échasse,’ which means ‘stilt.’ The glass vases stand on slim stilt-like legs that bring a sense of lightness and of stability at the same time. The exclusive shades of color of the glass add elegance to objects that can be used alone or in groupings, to contain flowers, fruit or objects, or to display like sculptures that play with light and its effects.
