The pure power of design

Compositional freedom in the world of lighting comes from specially designed systems with which to create forms and geometries with light

They light up space, giving it a new form. They create dynamism and volume. The new lighting systems have the aim of bringing light everywhere, adapting to any location with simplicity, to the configuration of rooms and the evolution of the logic of utilization, which becomes more variable than ever before.

Mario Cucinella has designed Katà Métron for Artemide (see cover image) in a perspective of increasingly sustainable products that reduce the use of our planet’s limited resources. An object in which the modular parts can create infinite combinations and forms, permitting the design of custom luminous scenarios to respond to a wide range of needs.

The Poses collection by Axolight, by the in-house creative team, allows designers to imagine countless flat geometric forms through the use of straight lines and junction points. A modular ceiling, wall or suspension lamp, it can be assembled using linear bars available in three different lengths, grafted onto circular satellites equipped with a magnetic cover for opening and closing, to ensure simple installation. The linear bars can rotate by 360° to adjust the beam, providing perfect visual comfort.

Produced in Italy by Linea Light Group, the INK System represents a turning point in the field of technical lighting: it revises the concept of the lighting fixture, taking it apart and putting it back together, leading to the discovery of new alphabets. Starting with a simple thin elastic cable, light becomes a continuous strip with indirect emission, suspended near the ceiling. The same cable, when combined with an extruded piece for walls and ceilings, can be transformed into a luminous pathway that furnishes spaces and functions as a base for the components: spotlights, linear profiles and suspension lamps in the same family.

Spigolo by Foris is a wall lamp with an essential profile, conceived to respond to both aesthetic and practical needs. With its linear arrangement it can be placed between two corner surfaces or on one wall, alone or in groupings. The versatility of the light source is the result of the special colored tops that permit horizontal, vertical or diagonal attachment. When on, Spigolo creates a blade of light that can be rotated by 360° to obtain different effects: frontal, grazing the wall or diffused, when turned to face inward.

Ohm by Davide Groppi

Ohm by Davide Groppi

The secret of Ohm by Davide Groppi is a special unipolar cable extending from wall to wall. The source is thus hidden, impalpable, discreet. Ohm formulates space, creating almost invisible webs that support diodes, functioning as tiny suspended light sources. The light runs on digital tracks, on light threads, on shapeable ribbons that can be placed on staircases, windows, glazing – without limits.

Plusminus is a new lighting system designed by Stefan Diez for Vibia that makes it possible to shape light in the desired form. It is composed of a conducting textile belt, adjustable at different tension levels, to which to attach various lights at any point thanks to a simple click-and-connect device that offers total creative freedom. The belt can form soft curves that are ideal for suspension lamps. It becomes track lighting or can cross spaces to produce theatrical lighting installations.

Nemo shapes light thanks to the geometric design of ZIRKOL – C, a family of circular suspension lamps for general and decorative lighting of spaces. The body is in anodized aluminium and the opal protection screen ensures homogeneous brightness. The light emission can be direct or bi-directional with high luminous flow and three different color temperatures.

Cosima by Zava, Design Cédric Davies

Cosima by Zava, Design Cédric Davies

Cosima by Cédric Davies for Zava is a blade of light that defines spaces with its minimal lines. A luminous tube of opaline plexiglass with two ends in brass or coated metal. An extremely flexible lamp that stimulates the creativity of designers: it can be used individually, but also in personalized compositions on walls, or in theatrical suspended solutions, also in very large spaces.
