The power of color

In the new RAK Ceramics proposals, refined and intense shades give a new feeling to the bathroom and the home. They become manifestos of a sophisticated and contemporary lifestyle

Le Corbusier said that “polychromy is as powerful an architectural tool as plan and section”. Not only that, but he considered color so important that he codified his own personal “color scale” of 63 shades, suggesting possible combinations and uses. Before him, there were eminent designers who had theorized the use of color in architecture: Bruno Taut and Gerrit Rietveld, to name the most famous. Then, in 1919, came the Bauhaus, whose organic vision of a dialogue between architecture, art, and the applied arts had an impact on the way we think about living that continues to this day.

On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of this great aesthetic and intellectual movement, RAK Ceramics, one of the world’s largest ceramic brands, has launched the RAK-Des collection in 2019, made up of essential shapes and pure lines: a series of sculptural elements, initially proposed in white, now with new shades: Matte Black, Matte Gray, Matte Cappuccino, Matte Greige and Matte White. A color palette that expresses a sophisticated and contemporary lifestyle.

These are variations in light and color intensity that add an extra dimension to the contemporary bathroom, which is increasingly becoming a space to be experienced, a place to regenerate and be surrounded by beauty. A space that wants to dialogue with the rest of the house, speaking the same aesthetic language.

“In addition to the creative component, color is at the heart of the new collections,” says Leonardo de Muro, Corporate Vice President RAK Ceramics. “We have launched the RAK-Des line, inspired by the clean lines of Bauhaus, available in a variety of colors and finishes that reflect the sophisticated and contemporary lifestyle concept that is now the hallmark of RAK Ceramics. Combining personality and minimalism, the new RAK-Des collection offers a rich palette that brings timeless elegance and modern design to living spaces. Refined and sophisticated color is also the driving force behind our ceramic collections and bathroom elements that bear the signature of Lebanese designer ELIE SAAB”.

If in RAK-Des the palette is soft, made up of vibrations of intensity on warm and refined colors, in the collection developed together with ELIE SAAB, a talent of the international audience (his haute couture shows are regularly held in Paris), the chromaticism becomes bright and striking. It speaks the language of fashion.

The washbasins (countertop or freestanding) are now also available in six highly appealing colors: Warm Grey, Blush Pink, Rose Dust, Ash, Prussian Blue and Jade Green. And color, the absolute protagonist, explodes in the new wall tiles: Calacatta Viola, with large veins that mottle the light background, and Amazonite, which takes its name from the Amazon River but reflects the deep green stone typical of the feldspar deposits of the Peruvian jungle. Two fascinating, scenic materials of hypnotic beauty. With which to create unforgettable spaces.
