Refuse becomes resource: created in 2019, RoGuiltlessPlastic by Rossana Orlandi invites the community of designers to investigate the potential of plastic refuse, encouraging reuse and recycling. An international project that returns, for the third year, from 5 to 12 September, in the spaces of the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, with events in the cloisters, the gardens of the monumental building and the Sala del Cenacolo, around the motto “Save the waste, waste is value.”

The exhibition happens at three sites: the gardens host the TrashFormation Village, a true village made with reutilized materials, with the participation of renowned international names in architecture, industrial design and sustainable production. The protagonists include: Mario Cucinella with the Arena, a modern plaza made with 100 plastic cisterns; Pininfarina with the Urban Lounge equipped with air purification; and Lucio Micheletti with the HouseBoat, a micro-dwelling with a nautical tone in wood, made in collaboration with Rubner.

The Cloisters present the Hall of Waste, a “walk of fame” exhibiting the most creative and innovative initiatives on the theme of re-waste; while the Sala del Cenacolo offers the Re-Food Market, a “supermarket” organized by Livia Pomodoro for Esselunga to combat nutritional waste.

On 9 September the winners of the Ro Plastic Prize will be announced, for the first time with a focus not only on plastic but on all recyclable materials; the winners will receive a prize of 10,000 euros to develop and perfect their projects. The prize includes the participation of Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani as honorary president and representative of the Qatar Museums, the partner of the event.
Another special guest is the Princess of Denmark, the guest country of the initiative, on hand with a site-specific installation in collaboration with the DAC-Danish Architecture Center.
