Poltrona Frau becomes boundless

An outdoor debut for Poltrona Frau, with collections designed by Roberto Lazzeroni, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba and Kensaku Oshiro

“Poltrona Frau enters the outdoor furnishings market, reaching out in a territory that has always been well-suited to its nature. A territory of comfort, unmistakable quality and timeless elegance.” These are the words of the CEO Nicola Coropulis to perfectly sum up the motives and strategy behind Poltrona Frau’s outdoor debut. This new development comes for the occasion of Milano Design Week, inside the splendid courtyard hidden at the Milan showroom of the brand (on Via Manzoni).

With the Boundless living outdoor collections, the company reinforces its vision of unlimited comfort, where indoor and outdoor spaces contaminate each other, along with forms and functions: the result is a sizeable, versatile range of offerings that stand out for fine woodworking, the most outstanding materials, and the ability to trigger emotions along with evocative atmospheres. Three designers have created three collections of great mastery and lightness, all of them long-term reference points for the Frau philosophy.

Roberto Lazzeroni has developed The Secret Garden, interpreting the theme of lounges and dining areas as spaces for relaxation: a “familiar” collection in terms of its lines, where the material has clear references to the 1960s, reinterpreted with a totally contemporary soft touch.

The duo Ludovica + Roberto Palomba designs lounge space with Solaria, a collection of inimitable lightness and transparency, in spite of its ample, welcoming volumes. Woven cords become a trait d’union for all the pieces in the collection, permitting the creation of games of light and shadow (one of the designers’ favorite themes). The Mediterranean tradition comes immediately to mind, together with its warm, enveloping atmospheres.

Kensaku Oshiro has shaped three floor and table lamps: Sparkler embodies a complex typology of outdoor lighting, where lightness and strength are the primary requirements. The lanterns create a relationship with both natural and artificial light: brightened by the sun the generate mutable chiaroscuro effects, while in the darkness the produce an outdoor space filled with a warm, intimate glow, casting hypnotic shadows on the ground.
