Pedrali’s sustainable footprint

Pedrali has received Corporate Carbon Footprint certification, translating deep commitment to the environment into green policy that pervades every aspect of the company’s activity, taking concrete form in products. As in the new creations for 2022

The product is the result. The process begins much earlier, in every division, every activity, every conscious choice inside the company. The ‘green’ philosophy of Pedrali is not just an ideal – it is a matter of everyday practice, an integral part of a modus operandi that forms the corporate identity and culture, while indicating a true medium-long term business objective. One decisive step in this direction is the Corporate Carbon Footprint study conducted by Pedrali, leading to certification under the standard UNI EN ISO 14064-1:2019.

The study makes it possible to identify, quantify and manage GHG emissions (Carbon Footprint), reported in terms of equivalent in tons of CO2, connected with productive activities carried out in 2018 at the two Pedrali production sites – at Mornico al Serio, in the province of Bergamo, for the manufacture of furnishings in metal, plastic materials an upholstery, and at Manzano, province of Udine, with a factory for the making of wooden furniture. Through the application of this transparent and standardized method, the company can formulate objective and comparable results, understanding environmental weak points in production cycles, and thus setting clearly identifiable goals for their correction.

Pedrali thus incorporates the concept of sustainability directly at the roots of its real operation – the study covers direct and indirect emissions and energy consumption derived from transport or associated with projects, goods and services acquired and utilized. This makes it possible to directly intervene on the aspects with the highest impact, in a perspective of 360-degree social responsibility.
Within the production process, Pedrali’s sustainable approach has emerged over time, through the precise choice of sustainable finishes and materials, such as water-based paints (composed for the most part of resins of botanical origin) and the use of timber from certified forests. For two years, the company has generated collections made in recycled polypropylene – 50% from post-consumer waste material, and 50% industrial plastic scrap.

Hence the iconic Remind seating designed by Eugeni Quitllet and the Babila XL by Odo Fioravanti have been reborn in a “Recycled Grey” version, the distinctive hue that indicates their new eco-friendly nature. The latest development of this sustainable line has also been created by Eugeni Quitllet: Souvenir, presented at the recent Salone del Mobile in Milan, is “a projection of our dreams into the future,” the designer says.

With or without armrests, Souvenir reinterprets the classic green seating found in the Jardin des Tuileries or the Jardin du Luxembourg: classic elegance reinterpreted thanks to a new material. The result is a monoblock seat made of recycled polypropylene, specifically envisioned for outdoor use.
