Object Rotterdam

Next week in Rotterdam, Netherlands, the Object design fair will once again open the doors of Haka, the monumental building constructed between 1929 and 1932 designed by Dutch architects H.F. Mertens and J. Koeman, which reflects the functional aesthetics of that era

From Friday, February 2, to Sunday, February 4, 2024, almost two hundred designers, brands, and galleries will showcase unique furniture, interior products, lighting designs, as well as jewelry, textiles, and expansive architectural installations as exhibitors at Object Rotterdam, the fair dedicated to collectible design. Never before have so many designers participated in the Object fair.

“For designers, the fair represents a significant connection between supply and demand and a direct sales channel. Many interior enthusiasts know that they will come to the fair and leave with something beautiful,” says Anne van der Zwaag, director of Object.

Over the past decade, Object Rotterdam has become a large-format, interdisciplinary design platform used by participating designers to launch their latest creations. One of the fair’s value-adds is the presence of designers explaining their products and the production process.

Moreover, the historic monumental building hosting the fair, Haka, is an experience in itself. Constructed between 1929 and 1932 by Dutch architects H.F. Mertens and J. Koeman, Haka is an impressive example of modernist architecture and is only opened for this fair.

Here, at the ground floor, Dudok Horeca will set up a pop-up café where on Friday evening, in collaboration with IFFR, a special film about artist duo Lolo & Sosaku will be screened. Additionally, throughout the weekend, various exhibitions, talks, and other events take place in the Vierhavens neighborhood, all within a short walking distance from the main building.
