HDsurface: high performance and material presence

The GeoTexture, CementoWabi and GeoOutdoor collections grant body and color to vertical surfaces, indoors and outdoors, of a residence in Doha

The private residence designed by the architect Edoardo Altieri develops as a cluster of squared volumes of alternating height and different façade materials, in geometric blocks that reference the domestic functions indicated by the local tradition: private apartments for men and women, zones for service staff and a family area connected on ground level with a vast garden and a swimming pool, and gathered on the first floor around a central furnished courtyard, the traditional fulcrum of the house

The external walls of the courtyard and all the façades are clad with GeoOutdoor, an HDsurface solution that achieves an effect of continuity and material appeal with its surfaces, as a single-component outdoor mortar ready for use, mixed with water-based acrylic binders and mineral aggregate, offering high mechanical performance to make the material breathable, waterproof, resistant to weather and temperature changes.

For the interiors, the white vertical surfaces are made with GeoTexture, a monolithic mortar with a compact effect, which like a homogeneous, continuous skin makes it possible to ‘link’ the various volumes, creating a tactile and visual texture. In the living area the material takes on an intense red hue, a custom color requested by the client as a backdrop for the large dining table, in tune with the orange tones of the sofas.

Contrasts are also found in the bathroom, where white alternates with the dark gray of the wall in CementoWabi, a facing with a spatula effect, composed of cement, white Carrara marble and water, to emphasize the beauty of imperfections, the signs of wear and time.
