Dressing furniture

Like garments that add character to their wearers, furnishing fabrics contribute to dress up spaces through refined textures and tones

Play, nature and tactile sensations are the main inspirations for the new fabric collections, which help the eye and the mind to create settings with personality, thanks to careful selection of fibers based on parameters of ecology and production processes, without overlooking quality and innovation.

Jeux de Salon is the name of the first collection of completely modular fabric furnishings created by Lelièvre Paris and made in France. José Lévy has done the design, while the distribution is handled by Made In Design. The theme of play is the leitmotif, and the result is a collection of furnishings that know how to be casual but also elegant with their mixture of materials and colors, linking back to Lelièvre classics like velvet and bouclé, in intense, forceful new versions.

A tribute to the night and the glow of the moon, in Moonlight, the new Métaphores collection, a French brand belonging to Hermès textile division, designed by the creative director Emilie Paralitici. The eight fabrics of the collection – Divine, Fever, Feline, Lounge, Bengale, Saint-Germain, Kintsugi, Frivole – stand out for careful selection of yarns to bring out iridescent tones, and for the choice of organic and recycled fibers that enable the sustainability of the production process. Based on the codes of menswear, the Lounge jacquard fabric (in the photo), in a range of 17 tones, displays fibers worked in the form of irregular grains to punctuate the surface of the fabric, bringing out its natural, precious roughness.

Intrecci by Rubelli

Rubelli

For the four families of the vast Rubelli 2022 collection, nature is the leitmotif. As in the case of Intrecci, which offers a series of materic weaves with a crafted look, based on games of structure. The fabrics are apparently simple, but they conceal a crescendo of complexity: from Incipit, the most basic, to Rerum, the most elaborate. The weaves are all in solid colors, with the exception of the faux-solid matelassé Nexus. They are all yarn dyed, and thus of high quality, ready for combinations with the new decorative fabrics. The colors rely on a balanced selection of neutral tones, in line with contemporary tastes: from ivory to sand to ecru, all the way to anthracite and marron glacé. (In the photo, the chair to the left is covered in Nexus fabric, the cushion in Rerum, and vice versa for the chair on the right).

The Sequana collection from Pierre Frey created by Patrick Frey reinterprets classic fabric models, with wool woven in County Donegal, Ireland. Tweeds, herringbones, stripes and plaids in wool, featuring combinations of warm, unexpected colors, at times accompanied by printed linen. Materials and textures inspired by nature bring out the know-how and authenticity of traditional Irish weaves.

Based on the organic forms of nature, the Evoke collection by Sahco – Kvadrat offers seven drapes and four upholstery fabrics made with the finest craftsmanship. The products are made with new techniques to create lively tactile surfaces, with dry or shiny powdery chintz finishes, and abstract contours printed or embroidered with great artistry. The overall color palette is enhanced by the addition of fresh hues such as lemon grass, pistachio green and Sakura pink, as well as earthy tones like golden olive, moss green and rust red.

Nimbus by Dedar is a wool bouclé that conveys a sense of light, delicate pleasure: the full-bodied fabric wraps the user in warmth and softness. The enchantment is also a matter of color: thanks to a subtle mélange effect, the hues are less saturated and more faithful to the nature of the wool, contributing to the soothing personality of the fabric.
