Budri | Architexture Collection

Designed by Patricia Urquiola, the collection is inspired by Italian architectural tradition. Minimal and linear shapes leave voice to marble, the protagonist of modern and elegant tables

Architexture includes eight tables of different heights and sizes: two circular and one rectangular dining-tables, two circular coffee-tables and three circular side-tables. Leitmotiv of the entire collection are the bases, self-standing columns composed of colored rings that alternate with each other. The pictorial and veined marbles contrast with monochromatic marbles with a color-block effect, recalling the most iconic facades of Italian Renaissance. The column is topped by an extra clear, light glass, which lets the stone emerge in all its beauty.

The combinations are many and all suggest natural shades, in pink, blue and green, that come together in an unexpected way. Among these, Pink Onyx, Aquarel Onyx, Azul Boquira, Verde Lapponia, Verde Antigua and many others.

At the heart of the project is sustainability in processing: many marbles of Italian origin have been intentionally used, including Verde Alpi, Verde Borgogna, Verde Venezia, Bianco Statuario and Travertino Romano. The “TuttoGreen” Carpet, made of green marbles, also represents a method for recovering processing material coming from the feet of the tables.

An extensive artwork belonging to the same collection acts as a ‘backstage’ to the Architexture tables. Light and dark marbles and onyxes create a plastic movement, with pure volumes, cylinders, spheres and parallelepipeds, that intertwine in an architectural landscape of chromatically studied shapes. The airy sky in Aquarel Onyx dominates the architecture. Three different textures, diamond, plissè, and groove, produce plays of depth. Extraordinary works in bas-relief represent three motifs inspired by Italian architecture, thus contributing to the dialogue between matter and light.
