As usual, the MIPIM Awards go together with the main event of MIPIM Cannes to bring an overview of innovation and cutting-edge design in the world of major projects. The awards have become one of the key moments of the event par excellence in the field of real estate, and an opportunity to recognize and emphasize excellence on an international level.
The jury, chaired this year by François Trausch, Global CEO & CIO of Allianz Real Estate, selected 12 winners from about 100 candidates from all over the world, as well as a 13th winner of the “Special Jury Award,” a sort of “best of the best” assigned to the House of Music in Bucharest designed by Sou Fujimoto. The winning projects respond perfectly to the theme of MIPIM for 2022 (the 31st edition), “Driving Urban Change,” reflecting an ability to adapt to the consequences of the pandemic on how people live, work, spend leisure time and consume.
“What impressed the jury most was the diversity and creativity of the projects submitted, a hallmark of our European cities and an important factor for buildings that are developed today for tomorrow’s communities,” François Trausch explained.”

Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet: Best Cultural & Sports Infrastructure
Designed by BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group, the museum spiral flanks the original workshop, established by Audemars Piguet’s founders in 1875, with a new all-glass structure, comprised of two spirals that seamlessly integrate into the existing landscape.

This project by Aedas studio integrates the most technologically advanced offices, research laboratories, visitors and exhibition centers, and ancillary facilities, to build a world-class scientific research institute on the banks of Nanhu Lake in Yuhang District, Hangzhou.

Arboretum: Best Futura Project
Arboretum is Europe’s largest low-carbon office campus. Located only 15 minutes away from Paris’ city center, it offers 125,000sqm of offices and services built in solid wood, surrounding a 22 acres private park. Arboretum embodies the post-covid office by promoting a direct access to nature, starting with wooden interiors. LCP Trecate: Best Industrial & Logistics Development
At the time, the largest pre-let deal in Europe. Logistics Capital Partners (LCP) developed a new Global Distribution Headquarters for the largest global luxury brands retailer, Kering, on project by The Blossom Avenue Partners. The building achieved LEED Platinum Environmental rating, and incorporated one of the largest solar panel roof installations, utilising all roof space in addition to Geothermal heating wells.

Frederiksberg Allé 41: Best Mixed-use Development
Frederiksberg Allé 41 includes food stalls, workshops and cultural facilities with an apartment building and a green inner courtyard above. As the first of its kind in Denmark, the building itself (by studio Cobe) is placed directly over and connected to an underground metro station.

A series of vast curvilinear landscaped courtyards and a large atrium provide the 4,500 building’s users and the general public with high-quality spaces in the heart of Brussels. Located in Östermalm, Stockholm’s historic city centre, Astoriahuset and Nybrogatan 17 consists of a renovated multi-story building from 1873 (with residential apartments) and the construction of a new connected office building.

Æbeløen’s 146 residences – comprising townhouses and apartment buildings – inhabit the last vacant plot in Aarhus’ historic Øgade neighbourhood adjacent to the city’s botanical garden. CAP3000: Best Shopping Centre
It all began in 1969: opening of CAP3000, the no°1 shopping center in France. The last few years, CAP3000 has been extended and new innovative projects have been implemented. Borough Yards: Best Urban Project
Located next to the historic Borough Market in the heart of London, the recently completed Borough Yards development includes new retail streets, cultural galleries and commercial office space. SPPARC has created an architectural typology which started from the principle that there should be pedestrian lanes within the block linking the river to the historic market, through a series of connecting yard spaces and streets.

The House of Hungarian Music by Sou Fujimoto actively builds on the synergy of and balance with nature. The concept of the project applies a versatile approach to the introduction of music. The House of Hungarian Music in Budapest is not just a museum, but an ambitious concept that embraces the past and future, as well as people, culture and the nature and science of music.
