Stockholm Furniture&Light Fair sets a date for next year, from 8 to 12 February 2022. In the meantime, until 14 February, the fair has organized a virtual edition, in parallel with Stockholm Design Week, happening now with open showrooms and events scattered around the city.
The program for 10 and 11 February includes the Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks, two days of online conversations about the evolution of design and objects, working and living spaces, with the participation of Vo Trong Nghia, Anders Lendager, Rossana Orlandi, Charles Renfro, Pierre Yovanovitch, Fokke Moerel, Thomas Sandell, Camilla van Deurs and Carlos Moreno, just to name a few. The city, in spite of the absence of the fair, comes alive thanks to Stockholm Design Week, “a more limited, safe gathering place in which we can continue to do business and networking,” says Sanna Gebeyehu, product & concept owner, Stockholm Design Events of Stockholmsmässan. Many showrooms are open for real-time encounters and presentations of new products, obviously with the suitable limitations to small groups, by reservation only: one happening is the exhibition Problems by Form us with love, an in-depth look at the studio’s design process, through the creation of new solutions to respond to contemporary issues.

Other companies opening their showrooms include Vitra and Artek, which present new settings for flexible living and working, with a collage of classics like the Panton Chair in new colors, together with new developments like the Atelier Stool by the Swedish duo TAF for Artek, and the Tip Ton Re chair by Barber&Osgerby for Vitra, made with 100% recycled material taken from domestic refuse.
During the Swedish design week Minotti opens its first flagship store in Scandinavia, with the dealer Upgrade Living, in the prestigious residential district of Östermalm, inside one of the 19th-century buildings of the very central Strandvägen, an important showcase which presents the 2020 Collection including the Connery and Blazer seating systems by Rodolfo Dordoni and the projects by Marcio Kogan, Nendo and GamFratesi, together with bestsellers.

The theme of sustainable plays a central role, as the protagonist of an exhibition of 26 Swedish companies (including Bolon and Offecct), a design college and various organizations, together with the event Inside Swedish Design – Presence and Innovation, a moment of encounter between designers, companies and young students to find solutions with low environmental impact, with a selection of long-lasting objects made in wood from certified forests and recyclable materials.
