Hospitality and sustainability: the themes of Ambiente 2020

From 7 to 10 February in the immense Frankfurt fair facility, Ambiente is the leading event for the tableware and gift sectors

Every Ambiente has precise focal points to catch the eye of sector professionals. This year the organizers have gone a step further, creating a new theme pavilion for HoReCa, an overview of a variegated market full of proposals.

Not that the sector was under-represented in past editions; it was simply scattered. But it attracts many players. The restaurant field takes on new identities, hotellerie remains an ambition for many entrepreneurs, and catering has gone through extensive evolution in recent years. So it makes sense to create an entire pavilion (no. 6) and an intense program of conferences and workshops (HoReCa Academy).

The theme of sustainability (Germany and the countries of northern Europe are out in front with respect to the Mediterranean countries) is a historical asset of Ambiente, and once again this year it is approached with energy and method: a group of international experts has prepared a guide to support buyers in the choice of companies that have taken a concrete ethical path in this area.

Design plays a leading role at Ambiente: the opening day includes the prize ceremony for the German Awards, and on the next day visitors can see the winning products. The two “Talents” areas – Dining and Living – will feature works by emerging designers.
