Architect Laura Gonzalez crafts a “new story” for Printemps‘ New York debut, creating a captivating dialogue between two capitals. The design blends the 160-year Parisian heritage of Printemps with the boundless energy of its One Wall Street location.
Conceived as a series of joyful, interconnected rooms, the space interprets the classic Parisian apartment through a bold New York lens, establishing a true cultural and stylistic fusion that feels both historic and entirely new. The project’s magic lies in its material alchemy.
Gonzalez transforms traditional elements – enhancing oak parquet with stone inlays and reinterpreting Art Nouveau tiles from an old Printemps motif. Innovation shines as what appears to be marble is revealed as compressed recycled plastic. This commitment to sustainability is reinforced by unique antique pieces sourced from French flea markets, culminating in an enchanting, dreamlike environment that offers a rich sensory journey.
