There is no room for shyness when it comes to style, least of all in the home. And this month, the desire to impress has taken over. Perhaps it’s the glittering atmosphere of the just-concluded Oscars, or perhaps it’s the fast-paced rhythm of Italian popstar Mahmood’s Tuta Gold, a hit that’s sweeping the streaming platforms.
The fact is that, like modern alchemists, we have turned everything into gold. Not everything, because we decided to keep a good percentage of black. Our new moodboard plays with these two colour ideas, light and shade, a combination that seems simple at first, but in reality hides some complexity – due to the different shades of the king of precious metals.

To balance the different shades, we have chosen only matt and satin finishes, preferring warmer tones to glossy ones, to avoid the risk of kitsch. The depth of the whole is left to black, the undisputed passe-partout of the wardrobe, the friend-enemy of interior design.

The extremely opaque base that envelops the whole is Nero Ingo by Fenix, whose intensity creates the necessary depth to enhance the DeSatèn M16 brass finish designed and manufactured by De Castelli. On the left, inspired by the aesthetics and graphic design of tatami, the traditional Japanese floor covering, the Ceremony Himalayan wool and linen carpet, designed by Mae Engelgeer for cc-tapis, provides a geometric framework that regulates the composition, illuminated by the chandelier made up of 30 Carousel cylinders by Lee Broom.

Dino by Marsotto Edizioni design by James Irvine
In the centre, the Dino table in Travertino Romano, designed by James Irvine for Marsotto Edizioni, with its more neutral tone, balances the strength of the other surfaces and acts as a bridge to the composition next to it. The chair, hand-crafted with 24-carat gold leaf and 398 Swarovski Mammamia diamonds by Opinion Ciatti, and the Miss Rope chair with interwoven smoky paper ropes designed by Studiopepe for Baxter.

The nuances are lighter in the composition to the side, thanks to the Shadow rug by Illulian, a play of perspectives in fine silk and wool yarn created by Studio Palomba Serafini.

The star of the show is the Up series by Gaetano Pesce for B&B Italia, in the limited edition of the Compasso d’Oro, the Oscar for the career of a great icon. In the background, other golden touches: Ripple signed by Marco Pisati for De Castelli, a metal storage unit with a brass finish, and the Stchu-Moon pendant lamp in black and gold metal by Catellani & Smith.
