Shining!

Art illuminates history: the mosaics of Sicis embrace the twin of David in the Italian Pavilion at Expo Dubai

A triumph of light for a spectacular, thrilling cocoon effect. A golden cloak to celebrate the rebirth of Michelangelo and his David, faithfully replicated with the most sophisticated 3D technology. Sicis – a Platinum Partner of Expo – has produced over 2.5 million tiles in glass and gold (crafted by hand, one by one, by the Sicis artisans), to surround the statue of David, depicting historic locations for art: Palazzo dei Normanni and the Cappella Palatina in Palermo, the starry sky of the dome that references the mosaics of Galla Placidia in Ravenna.

The artistic mosaic tiles of Sicis, the result of over 30 years of history, meet technology of the latest generation in a marriage that raises the intrinsic values of Sicis’s culture to the highest levels: a fine balance between history and science, respect and curiosity regarding technological novelties, constant research to bring together than hand that creates the mosaic tile and the artificial intelligence that signifies speed and new opportunities.

“Beauty Connects People” is the theme of the Italian contribution to Expo Dubai, and Sicis, with this operation, will make that beauty shine.
