A big fan of Italian Post-Modernism, Sasha Bikoff, for the making of the staircase at the annual event Kips Bay Decorator Show House event, which invites interior designers to transform the interiors of an apartment in Manhattan, seems to have been inspired by the forms and patterns of the work of the designers of the Memphis group in Milan.
Stairway to Heaven is a amusing but at the same time “worldly and intellectual” solution that combines a very lively carpet featuring geometric motifs, dots and squiggles with Polaroids of pop stars on the walls, mirrors by artists like Chris Schanck and Misha Kahn, and vintage chandeliers on glossy ceilings with blue and lime green moldings.
