BDNY 2018: Javits Center of New York becomes the stage for hospitality design

It is among the trade fairs with the greatest expansion in the United States, Boutique Design New York (BDNY), taking the stage at the Jacob K. Javits Center of Manhattan next 11 and 12 November. This year, having reached its 9th edition, the event dedicated to hospitality – of which IFDM is a media partner – will involve over 8,000 professionals from the Eastern United States, Canada and Europe who will present 750 manufacturers and distributors of lighting, furnishings, wall and floor coverings, accessories, textiles… in anticipation of the 38th Gold Key Awards on the evening of 12 November, the oldest and most prestigious award for excellence in Hospitality Design.

The event produced by HMG Boutique Design New York 2018 is inaugurated on 10 November with the BDNY Kickoff Party at 583 Park Avenue and it culminates with the Gold Key Awards Gala on the evening of 12 November at the Gotham Hall, where it is possible to delve into the creative world of hospitality through its protagonists. Among manufacturers, distributors, hoteliers, architects and designers, the trade fair that extends over more than 13,000 square metres, shines the spotlight on the creative universe of hospitality – from lighting to furnishings, from accessories to floor and wall coverings – in two days of expositions, events, conferences, class sessions. There are many initiatives organised by  BDNY, such as “New in New York”,  a behind-the-scenes journey of the most recent hotel projects in the various boroughs of the city – Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island – through the voices of architects and professionals; “ISHP/Boutique Design Owners’ Grill” with the major hoteliers and investors; “Brand Central” with the protagonists of some of the most exclusive brands of the sector and “Investor Outlook” an overview on the objectives of development and the various trends.

In collaboration with NEWH, the event “Boutique Design Power Players: Women Leaders in Hospitality Breakfast and Panel Discussion” is instead characterised by leaders in hotel designing, investment and production. And among the most authoritative voices present at the trade fair are Jennifer Abuzeid, senior director, global design strategies of Marriott International; Erin Altman, senior designer of BAMO; David Ashen, principal of dashdesign; Ted Brumieve, senior director design & construction of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts; Javier Egipciaco, managing director of Arlo Hotels in addition to some of the most renowned brands of the sector, including Dedar, Atlas, Ethimo, Lapalma, Indel B, Andreu World, Baker, Janus & Cie, Nanimarquina, RH Contract, Royal Botania and Umbrosa.
