WantedDesign, design cercasi a Manhattan e Brooklyn

Concentrati in due luoghi le numerose iniziative per sposare cultura progettuale, impresa e rapporti internazionali

“Più che mai, vogliamo che WantedDesign sia una piattaforma aperta, adatta per promuovere il dialogo internazionale, relazioni, il libero scambio di competenze e di pensiero, e per costruire una vera e propria comunità”. Questo l’obiettivo auspicato dalle curatrici Claire Pijoulat e Odile Hainaut, che per la 7a edizione presentano un calendario intenso e importanti partecipazioni nelle due sedi di Manhattan, al Terminal Stores dal 20 al 23 maggio, e di Brooklyn, a Industry City dal 17 al 23 maggio, in un mese fitto di appuntamenti e opportunità per i professionisti del design di New York e di NYCxDesign. Come iniziativa curatoriale e in modi diversi rispetto a un tradizionale evento fieristico, WantedDesign aspira a mettere in relazione designer e produttori internazionali interessati a sviluppare la propria attività anche negli Stati Uniti, e ad attrarre un pubblico tanto qualificato quanto diversificato, architetti, aziende, interior designer, buyer, curatori, giornalisti, trend setter, studenti, per dare impulso alla condivisione di idee e punti di vista. Nelle due sedi, le numerose iniziative vertono quindi attorno a temi quali lo scambio culturale, ad esempio con la Francia con OUI Design, Transatlantic Creative Exchange e Hors Pistes, ma anche con la presenza di collettive internazionali di Argentina, Barcelona Design Centre, Business France, Fresh from Brazil, Pro Mexico, Quebec Designe Ventura NYC The Dutch Edition. Un’altra collaborazione internazionale la mostra itinerante Outside the Box 6.0 realizzata con The Toronto Design Offsite Festival con oggetti di design presentati da più di 100 studi. Una seconda mostra, Wanted Interiors, organizzata insieme con Sony Life Space UX e con il sostegno di Alcantara, Alpi, Ligne Roset e FontanaArte, propone invece nuovi modi interattivi per scoprire prodotto e produttore nel progetto allestitivo degli studenti del Pratt Institute School of Design. Sempre gli studenti, oltre a designer giovani e indipendenti, sono i protagonisti invece delle iniziative legate al design del futuro, come il workshop Hyper Hybrid, il Career Day, o ancora il concorso Launch Pad nelle categorie illuminazione e arredo, e il premio American Design Honors che quest’anno viene assegnato allo Studio Gorm.
