Blue like the sky, green like the sea
The vibrant colors of summer and nature enter contemporary interiors, bringing the same relaxing and light atmosphere of an open-air panorama

Summer also enters domestic spaces with its colors, its light, the gentle vibrations of a season that invites well-being. A few details are enough: carefully chosen accessories and decorative touches in lively or natural tones, to prolong that feeling of relaxation and harmony within the home, where indoor and outdoor are increasingly in continuity. Below, some inspiration to bring summer into contemporary interiors.

Sonora by Illulian, design Marìa Cristina Design

Illulian brings warm and exotic atmospheres into domestic environments through the Sonora rug, the latest creation born from the collaboration with artist María Cristina Design. A rug that is both a work of art and a homage to the wild nature of the Sonora Desert, on the border between the United States and Mexico: towering cacti, green hues standing out against a warm, sandy background, and embossed details that convey the tactile richness of the arid flora.

The same natural and lush vibrancy paints the upholstery of Cassina‘s Utrecht XL Outdoor armchair, the outdoor edition of Gerrit Thomas Rietveld‘s celebrated Utrecht armchair, characterized by the unmistakable graphic rhythm marked by the juxtaposition of orthogonal elements. The outdoor version maintains the characteristics of the larger XL model, while the materials have been carefully studied for open-air environments.

A dream-like island of relaxation that captures the vibrant energy of the beautiful season is the daybed from Ethimo‘s Patio collection. It is characterized by the teak structure embraced by the lagoon blue rope that defines the entire line designed by Studio Zanellato/Bortotto. The seat cushions, with their generous volumes and soft textures, echo the nuances of sand and sea, while the decorative cushions, designed for added comfort, are made of a soft fabric in the tones of Mediterranean flora.

The colors of nature combine with the power of light to create highly evocative lighting proposals. This is the case with the Ribbon pendant lamp designed by Draga & Aurel, a sinuous acrylic resin ribbon wrapping an LED-illuminated capsule, where color seems to flow into the purity of transparencies. Similarly, the portable Ease lamp by designer Johan Van Hengel for Muuto: a natural and pastel color accent for contemporary interiors; inspired by the forms of traditional table lamps, Ease transforms this typology into a portable format, suitable for carrying anywhere, with the same lightness as the wind.

The “summer mood” panorama can be completed with a series of accessories that add vivacity and decor to any environment: from the refined Cilindro Sommerso vases by Venini, designed by Peter Marino and made of Murano glass, with their sophisticated emerald green hue, to Giorgetti‘s Marimo sculptures – with their clear natural inspiration recalling the spherical shape of the Japanese algae of the same name.
